| Another recent adventure was going to camp with my dog, Spenser. To really appreciate the organization behind this concept you should go to http://dogscouts.com. They have a wealth of information about living better with your dog and a friendly, no-nonsense approach. We had a swell time. I met interesting people and Spenser loved playing with their dogs. Camp info is at http://dogscouts.com/brochure.shtml Although I was familiar with clicker training, I didn't really get it until I saw it in action at camp. It makes such sense to forge a positive relationship with your dog instead of yanking the leash - and besides it works better. We heard from great trainers, learned new skills like agility and dock diving, got lots of exercise, ate well and bonded. We (Spenser and I) also kayaked the Au Sable river. If you liked camp as a child, you'll love dog camp. |
